Born 1953 in Stuttgart, Germany.

Currently living and working in Seattle, Washington.

Harris’ abstract acrylic and collage works are the result of an involved, intuitive process that begins with painting spontaneous lines of varying weight and brilliant swatches of color on numerous sheets of found paper. He then edits and deconstructs these, turning them into compelling graphic works. By composing these pieces in richly layered patterns, urging fragmented lines, edges and drips to relate to one another, Harris creates mysteriously personal maps- floor plans for small moments and large events in his own life. His works seem to trace a roundabout path with many turns and detours that at times recede below the surface to continue along in subterranean layers; ledger pages, map fragments and other artifacts act as clues along the way.
